I’ve been playing guitar for about twelve years now and bought my first electric guitar, a 1982 Custom Fender Telecaster, about ten years ago. Ever since then I’ve spent countless hours sitting in front of the computer trying to get what I’ve played down onto a recording of one form or another–first it started with the Sound Recorder that came with Windows 95, then I upgraded to Cool Edit 95 (now Adobe Audition) and wow it’s been a long time since 1995.

Now I’ve recently got my hands on Native Instruments Guitar Rig and this program makes playing guitar through my laptop so much fun. What I love the most about it is the easy-on-the-eyes user interface which makes it look like you’re playing through a real guitar amp. I’ve put up a sample from ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ (one of my favorite songs) by the band Guns N’ Roses. Check it out!
